Flight Planning
- Take a look first at the Potential Flight Distance (PFD). You'll get a fast and yet detailed overview of the usability of the entire day and favorable task setting.
- If this chart looks OK, take a look at the surface charts, which show weather fronts and pressure areas.
- You can then consult the Thermals map for different hours. It shows the development of updrafts, blue thermals or cumulus clouds and significant weather phenomena as thunderstorms.
- The cloud distribution models a picture from outer space and indicates several cloud formations.
- The satellite picture is an almost real-time, true picture from outer space. It reveals fog and low stratus cover or other cloud cover which may be different to the model forecasts.
- Finally, take a look at the wind fields.
